Mark your calendars for MLC Golf Scramble

When : June 28, 2010

Where: Weissinger Hills Golf Course -2240 Mt. Eden road – Shelbyville, KY 40065

Time: 1:00 PM Registration (Lunch & free range balls)

What: 4 person golf scramble

Entry Fee: $65 per person ($260 per team)

Why: MLC uses this money to help those less fortunate in the Middletown Area and throught the world.

Middletown Lions receive plaque from Eastern High School Band

Lion president Kay Mills received a plaque from Eastern High School marching band for the Lions Outstanding Contribution to their fundraising efforts. Held at Middletown Christian Church the program also gave awards to their students. A sitdown dinner was enjoyed by all prepared by band booster members.

We’ve just updated the website with most of this years events and dates.

We put up this years Golf Scramble information and the online registration form. We appreciate your patronage at this event through the years and we look forward to seeing everyone again this year.

We also added a complete list of the dates, times and performers for the Annual Music in the Park Concert Series sponsored by the City of Middletown.

We added the dates for this years Middletown Family Fun Festival and we’ll update the page or blog with more information as the summer progresses.

The time is here to start getting your teams together. Block out the date and get ready for some good food, good golf, good company and an all around good value.

All you need to know about this years scramble can be found here on our golf scramble page.

If you are a member of the Middletown Lions Club, you can easily download one or all of the 3 flyers and then print how ever many you need. The page above also has the online registration form for teams.

We usually take the first 25 teams and our goal is to have the first 12 teams paid by May 28.

If you are a business in the Middletown area this is a great chance to get your name in front of 100 golfers who live nearby.

Lion H.D. Wilson is heading up what will hope will be an annual event. Lions will accompany staff and students from St Mary’s Center to a University of Louisville women’s basketball game on Saturday February 28th.

Bowling for Sight back to orignal time 1:00PM

Just as another reminder that the Annual Dick Gould Bowling for Sight will start at 1:00PM on Sunday February 22nd, instead of 1:30 PM.

This was emailed out by Tim Beard but I wanted to post it here as well.

Pres Perry’s take away on Ky Lions Dist 43 Conf

Spent last Saturday at the Roy Caywood Sr. Conference. Sounds boring huh? That’s how I usually look at these things, as I would much rather be with the three little munchkins, better known known as our grand-kids, Madison, Samuel and Mayson.

However, it was a very worthwhile day. I helped with the conference sign in, then attended some of the conference training sessions. Very informative and helpful.

My favorite was a session on Membership Growth led by PDG Joie Mills, then commented on by 2nd VP Sid Scruggs. What a powerful speaker and motivator Sid Scruggs is. He motivated me to do a session for our club on exactly what is Lionism.

We oldies (you know who I’m talking about) take for granted what Lionism is all about, however we have a whole new slate of members that listen to our old ways, and they may have some refreshing new ideas on how we do the old things, for example “blogging”.

If you think Lionism isn’t important you should have been there to hear Misty Zinner’s testimony. Very powerful!

Whoever thought OLDIE Perry Lyons would be blogging. Complaing or griping maybe, but blogging? Now way.

Looking forward to our next meeting.

We are excited to have our website 90% complete, but even more excited about the possibilites this gives our club to connect with one another, our community and new potential members. Whether you tune in and subscribe to our blog feed, which I still have to burn at Feedburner (please be patient Rome wasn’t built in a day) or you follow our updates on Twitter or you keep up with our photos on Flickr- we are happy to have you.

Our motto in the Lions Club is “We Serve” and we hope this website and blog help us to communicate what we do and who we do it for on a much grander scale.

Please start sharing this site with everyone who has some connection with Middletown or our club. Spread the word. We are producing a PDF which highlights the donations we’ve made to various organizations over the years at our club. It should be a great tool to show our supporters and community how much we try to give back each and every year.
